Description

The wheels on the bus cannot go round and round without enough drivers!  We need drivers to keep our students moving and our activities and athletics running smoothly!

This position runs throughout the school year, with summers off!  The competitive starting wage is $21.70.

We are seeking both subs and regular drivers and full and part time!

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Montana Bus Driver Certification upon employment with proper endorsement (WE WILL PROVIDE TRAINING!); and
  • Clean driving record.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A winning attitude and desire to make a difference with kids!
  • One year or more of commercial driving experience.
  • Experience interacting with K-12 students.
  • Valid First Aid certification at time of employment.

In a typcial day, you will be:

  • Providing safe and efficient transportation for students to school, home, and on field trips.
  • Observing and obeys all traffic laws, state and federal safety regulations.
  • Adhering to District safety and discipline requirements.
  • Interacting with students, parents, and staff in a positive manner.
  • Completing paperwork and reports as required.
  • Reporting mechanical problems to the Facilities and Transportation Office or designee.
  • Assisting in monitoring behavior, situations, and seating while students are on the bus.
  • Keeping bus clean and presentable at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities you will either bring to the job or learn on the job:

  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to identified mechanical or safety issues.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first aid certification upon employment.
  • Ability to evacuate a bus in the event of an emergency.
  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to follow and issue directions.
  • Skill, dedication, and aptitude for working with students.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • The job of a Route Bus Driver is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, US Department of Labor.  Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
