This posting is for vacancies for the 2023-2024 School Year.

This position follows the school year calendar with summers off!  Our competitive starting wage is $13.40-14.92 and is based on experience.  PLUS, eligible employees will be paid a $1,000 bonus paid in two $500.00 installments, in December and June

 

Benefits include: a comprehensive benefit plan, Montana State retirement plan (PERS), overtime eligible, PLUS 8-days holiday pay, 15-days paid vacation, 12-days sick leave and 2 personal days to start.  In addition, insured employees and their covered dependents are eligible for free health care through our KPS CareHere Clinic!  All benefits are prorated based on FTE.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A great attitude and desire to be part of an efficient team!
  • High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

In a typical day, you might find yourself:

  • Preparing and cooking food according to established guidelines.
  • Facilitating the sanitation of the kitchen facility.
  • Operating kitchen and cleaning equipment.
  • Maintaining sanitation and cleanliness of the kitchen facility.
  • Maintaining accurate records required by county health department and USDA.
  • Communicating and establishing positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Taking appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
  • Completing yearly required training credits.
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities you will either bring with you or learn on the job:

  • Ability to operate and clean a variety of kitchen equipment according to standards.
  • Ability to meet, communicate, and monitor a high standard of safety.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first aide certification upon employment.
  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Skill, dedication, and aptitude for working with students.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in food service.
  • Knowledge of National School Lunch Program Recipe Guidelines.
  • Experience as a cook or baker.
  • ServSafe Manager Level Certification.

It's not manual labor, but you will want to be able to:

  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • This is a Medium Duty position that involves exertion of 20-40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
