Salary: $92,481-$102,082, benefit eligible, exempt, 218 days + 8 holidays + 5 personal days.  (Salary based on 2023-2024 Administrator Salary Matrix.  Wage will be adjusted for cost of living increase once Board approved.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages, administers, and provides leadership to Kalispell Middle school. 
  • Communicates and establishes positive relationships with parents, students, staff and public. 
  • Meets the diverse needs of students and staff members in the school by directing and building an appropriate learning environment. 
  • Works as a team member within the district leadership and management structure and supports decisions made by administration in an effort to maintain positive staff morale. 
  • Fosters a positive school climate and culture. 
  • Serves as an instructional leader, facilitating discussion around student growth, curriculum, instruction and assessment decisions; providing professional opportunities for staff development 
  • Administers discipline that is fair and appropriate to the misbehavior of students and that is consistent with the philosophy, goals, and policies of the school and the school district. 
  • Collects and analyzes data as assigned. 
  • Assists in development, implementation, and coordination of course scheduling and registration processes.  
  • Provides explanation and interpretation of school programs, policies, procedures, and laws to students, parents/guardians, staff and the community. 
  • Participates in policy and procedural decisions relevant to student and administrative issues. 
  • Participates in activities of the school that include parents/guardians, staff, students and the public. 
  • Supervises and evaluates both certified and classified staff members in accordance with the supervision model of the school district and in accordance with the negotiated agreements of various employee groups. 
  • Maintains instructional expertise in his/her teaching areas through continuous involvement in that subject(s) curriculum. 
  • Performs other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal and the District Superintendent.
  • Reports to the Building Principal.

  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, parents/guardians, and the public. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents/guardians and the public. 
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.  
  • Ability to write reports, school correspondence, manuals or other relevant information. 
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality. 
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels. 
  • Ability to meet a high standard of policies and protocol. 
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. 
  • Ability to follow directions and multi-task. 
  • Skill in organization to provide effective administration. 
  • Skill, dedication, and aptitude for recognizing the development needs of elementary students. 
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Skill and aptitude in the use of computers, software and current technology.
  • Knowledge of state and local policies and laws that refer to student discipline and education. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master degree in education or relevant subject, AND, 
  • Valid Montana Administrator’s certification with appropriate administrative endorsements upon hire; AND, 
  • Minimum of five years of teaching or equivalent certified experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as an administrator.
  • Evidence of continuing academic growth.
  • Experience in middle school teaching.
  • Experience working with Montana special education laws, policies and regulations.

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
